Monnis and Mezzo in Newland Street is one of Witham’s newest
businesses. Formerly known as The Spread Eagle Hotel, the venue has
undergone a fantastic upgrade over the last year, bringing the building
back to its original life and making the most of its traditional
features.
We took over Monnis and Mezzo in December 2010 having worked in the
industry for over 20 years and have made the most of my experience with
(we feel!) outstanding results. We take personal pride in the business,
choosing to get to know the regulars and play an active part in the
community, supporting local charities and local business networks too.
In Monnis we have brought in top Chef Theophanis from L’Aristos and have transformed it into a beautiful Greek restaurant, offering cuisine based on traditional recipes, which were passed down to him through generations.
From 12noon until 2.00pm and from 6.00pm in the evening, you are invited to savour our extensive Greek Menu by candlelight, we have an extensive wine list to choose from; featuring 7 reds, 7 whites, 2 roses and champagnes as well beer (including some Greek varieties), all available from our bar whilst listening to traditional Greek music and imagining yourself in the Mediterranean!
Mezzo’s is the other half of M&M, offering a great overspill area from Monnis. The room is also used for private hire events and can accommodate up to 150 people comfortably. With its own entrance, bar area, DJ booth and disco lighting along with free car parking for 30 cars, it is perfect for Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings and other party celebrations. Our projector, screen, wifi and theatre style seating available for up to 40 people are ideal for formal presentations and business conferences.
We believe that Monni’s and Mezzo is such a great venue and the ideal location to host any type of function, be it for business or pleasure. What’s more, there is no hire charge and with buffets starting from just £7 per head; this large yet intimate venue is perfect for any type of event.
